Speaker Mike Johnson and House Republican Leadership Endorse Orlando Sonza in OH-01

CINCINNATI, OH | MAR. 5, 2024Orlando Sonza, candidate in Ohio’s first Congressional District, today announced he has been endorsed by Speaker Mike Johnson and the House Republican Leadership Team, including Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and Conference Chair Elise Stefanik.

 

Speaker Mike Johnson: "Orlando Sonza has the experience, principles, and character we need representing Southwest Ohio in Congress. He will secure the Southern Border, take care of our veterans, and put an end to the disastrous policies of Bidenomics. Orlando has my full support and I look forward to helping him flip this seat."

 

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise: "Orlando is the commonsense conservative we need in Washington. He is a West Point graduate who will bring his expertise to Washington to make our country safer and more prosperous. He has my full support and endorsement."

 

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer: "We need more people like Orlando in Washington, D.C. As a veteran, father of four, and prosecutor, Orlando will bring commonsense conservative leadership to our conference. I look forward to helping Orlando defeat Democrat Greg Landsman and growing this majority."

Orlando Sonza is a proud Ohioan. A second-generation Filipino American, Orlando was raised in New Jersey and attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. Orlando served on active duty as an Infantry Officer and Finance Officer with the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. After leaving active duty, Orlando obtained his master’s degree in taxation from the University of Cincinnati and his law degree from Georgetown Law. He is currently a prosecutor in the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office. He and his wife Jessica live in Springfield Township with their four children.
